Still a spectacular view, but no trees. The few trees in the distance is also to be removed.
The bush on the left was planted to replace the trees. It died because the ground is to wet for Fynbos.

Things are deteriorating even further. Rietvlei is lost. They planted hundreds of plants but never maintained them. Never watered them They all died. The place is a mess. Such a shame. Such bad management.
So sad.

This is now April 2008.
No attempts have been made to replant the vegetation that have been removed.
Soon it will be winter, then it will be too late for this year.
Nature will plant its own vegetation, but a little help from human gardeners could restore the damage done to this area.
